MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Key Largo man was cited Wednesday for illegally harvesting a parrotfish. Marine Deputy Luis Guiardinu issued a mandatory notice to appear in court to 29-year-old Terrance Peter Braden at approximately 5:01 p.m. near the Channel Two Bridge.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Braden did not possess the required permit to harvest a marine ornamental species, which includes parrotfish.

Parrotfish play a vital role in the marine ecosystem, helping to maintain healthy coral reefs. Regulations are in place to protect these fish and ensure the sustainability of the marine environment.
