A Kentucky woman celebrated a $75,000 lottery scratch-off win after winning $1,000 on the same day.
According to the Floyd County Chronicle (FCC), Samantha Elam of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, purchased a scratch-off ticket at Fast Lane Tobacco on Glynview Plaza on November 11th and won $1,000.
Elam decided to use the winnings to pay her car insurance and buy groceries. After her shopping was complete, Elam had some money left over and made the choice to purchase a Jackpot Fortune Limited Edition Scratch-off ticket from the same store.
Not a bad choice.
“I thought I won $75,” Samantha told FCC, and tried to cash the ticket at a store, and thats’ when the clerk scanned it and told her she couldn’t cash it at the store, as she won the game’s top prize of $75,000.

“I woke up my husband and was crying hysterically. I said, ‘I won $75,000, I won $75,000!'” Samantha told FCC. “He didn’t believe me at first. I had already woken him up earlier when I won the $1,000.”
According to the FCC, Elam drove straight to the Lottery headquarters with her son to claim her prize.
The store that sold Elam the ticket will receive a $750 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
