On the first anniversary of the death of Amber Spradlin, her estate has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against multiple defendants, including Michael McKinney Jr., Roy Kidd, and local law enforcement.
The lawsuit alleges that she was stabbed multiple times by Michael McKinney Jr. and that other individuals present failed to protect her or provide immediate assistance.
The lawsuit also accuses local officials of negligence, specifically citing the transfer of 911 services from the Kentucky State Police to the City of Prestonsburg.
The complaint alleges that Prestonsburg Police were not adequately prepared to handle 911 calls, resulting in a delayed response to an earlier emergency call from the residence on the night of Spradlin’s death.
“It’s a step in the right direction, and we think it’s gonna be like dominoes,” said Dr. Debbie Hall, Spradlin’s cousin to Z93 at the time. “They’re gonna start falling now.”
