White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News Monday that President Donald Trump continues to earn public favor, while Democratic Party support steadily declines.
During an appearance on “Hannity,” Leavitt said that Democrats’ shift towards what she describes as ‘woke’ politics has resulted in their lowest approval ratings ever. She said that the party rallies behind leaders like Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a move she said signals a disconnect with mainstream America.
“The Democrat Party has gone woke, and now they have gone broke. They have their lowest approval ratings ever, and they are rallying around two of the most far-left leaders in their party, AOC and Jasmine Crockett,” Leavitt said. “So that tells you the current state of the Democrat Party. Meanwhile, President Trump is enjoying some of his highest favorability ratings ever. He is more popular with the American public than he has ever been.”

Leavitt said there’s a difference in how the two parties are perceived.
“It’s truly remarkable when you think about all of the lies, hoaxes and smears he has suffered at the behest of the lying fake news media,” Leavitt said. “And I’m so glad you played the video from the NCAA tournament on Saturday night. I was there with the president, and the entire arena went electric. It was electric energy in the arena when President Trump entered the crowd, and every single wrestler that won their match came over to shake the hand of the president of the United States.”
Leavitt also talked about what she said were specific demographic shifts, particularly among young women and Hispanic Americans, who she said are turning away from the Democrats due to dissatisfaction with their policies, especially those related to immigration.

“Young men, young women and people of all ages in this country love and adore this president because they see a true leader in him. And if you look deeper at those Democrat Party numbers, all demographics are turning against them, especially the base that they have long relied on,” Leavitt said. “Young women are no longer looking to the Democrat Party. You look at Hispanic Americans, even legal immigrants who came to this country the right way because they are disgusted by the open border policies of the past four years.”
Crockett said she is focusing more on opposing Trump than working on legislative progress. During the interview on “Lone Star Politics,” host Phil Prazan asked Crockett about her legislative efforts and how much she intended to play “offense” versus “defense” against Republicans in the current congressional session.

NBC News and CNN/SSRS polls reported record low popularity for Democrats, with approval ratings at 27% and 29% among voters. Additionally, CNN’s senior data reporter Harry Enten said in a segment that voters hold an even poorer view of congressional Democrats compared to the party as a whole.
