A Kansas woman, Mariann Belair, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
This follows her conviction for first-degree murder and aggravated endangering of a child in the death of her daughter, 4-year-old Lawrencia Perez-Belair.
The tragic incident occurred on October 14th when Belair’s 2-year-old son accessed a loaded handgun left on the couch and accidentally shot his sister.

The young girl was pronounced dead shortly after.
Investigators found evidence of drug use and sales at the scene, along with Ring doorbell footage capturing the gunshot and subsequent screams.
Belair claimed she had momentarily left the gun out while checking her diaper bag, but evidence suggested it had been left unattended for longer.
