Kamala Harris’s campaign team is working diligently to address and clarify her past stances on various issues as she prepares for the upcoming election and, in some cases, pulling a KJP and cheering “Cheap Fakes” for lack of a better term.
However, are Americans really that stupid? Some would say yes and plan the “fall into line” strategy and possibly work for the Democrats, which I always thought was “weird.”
Those who have been paying attention know what I mean.
In the 12 days since Harris entered the presidential race, she has yet to hold a press conference or interview to discuss her changes in views, leaving her team to manage the fallout.
Despite her recent attempts to moderate her image, Harris’s extensive record of supporting progressive policies remains evident. Here are some key points of contention:
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala “would not ban fracking.”
- Past Statements:
- “There is no question I am in favor of banning fracking.”
- “I am committed to … finally putting an end to fracking once and for all.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala “no longer supports a single-payer health care system.”
- Past Statements:
- “Let’s eliminate all [private health insurance]. Let’s move on!”
- “I’ve always supported” a socialist takeover of health care.
- “I am proud to co-sponsor” government takeover of health care.
- “As we talk about moving toward a single-payer system, I think that there is certainly momentum.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala “is fighting to fix our broken immigration system.”
- Past Statements:
- “An undocumented immigrant is not a criminal.”
- “I support our sanctuary [city] law.”
- “We need to probably even think about starting [ICE] from scratch.”
- Illegal immigration “is not an emergency.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala won’t defund the police.
- Past Statements:
- “I applaud” defunding the police.
- “We need to reimagine” our police departments.
- “What we will do is reimagine public safety.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala “no longer supports” the Green New Deal.
- Past Statements:
- “I am committed to passing a Green New Deal.”
- “I support it … we’re gonna have to figure out a way to get there.”
- “I am prepared to get rid of the filibuster to pass a Green New Deal.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala doesn’t support mandatory gun confiscation.
- Past Statements:
- Mandatory gun confiscation is “a great idea … I’m gonna take executive action.”
- “A buyback program is a good idea.”
- “I support a mandatory [gun] buyback program.”
CURRENT CLAIM: Kamala won’t pack the Supreme Court with far-left activist judges.
- Past Statements:
- “I’m open to this conversation about … increasing the number of people on the U.S. Supreme Court.”
- “Everything is on the table.”
- “I am open to that discussion” of packing the Court.
As Harris’s team continues to navigate the complexities of her political history, the challenge remains to reconcile her previous positions with her current campaign messaging.
The scrutiny of her weird past statements will likely intensify as the election draws nearer.
