Democratic strategist James Carville during a Thursday podcast said Republicans only characterize themselves as Israel supporters because Jews are more white than Palestinians.
Over 70% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents report having a positive view of Israel, while only 44% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents share this perception, according to Pew Research Center in 2022.
Carville, on “Politics War Room,” said “racism” is what motivates the views of Israelis and Palestinians in response to a listener’s question regarding the Republican Party’s alleged embrace of “neo-Nazis,” which the listener suggested is inconsistent with the party’s pro-Israel stance.

“It’s really about the misogyny and the racism that drives the thing, and we got to recognize that. It’s not about any policy prescription. And the reason I suspect that most of these people describe themselves as pro-Israel is because the Jews are whiter than the Palestinians, which I think drives a lot of what they are,” Carville said.
Carville also criticized anti-Israel protesters for targeting Democrats instead of Republicans.
“My favorite comment to come out of this movement or these protests … I’m troubled by some of this stuff … I’m not remotely Palestinian,” he said. “But they asked them, ‘Trump is even more radical or anti-Palestine than whatever you think that President Biden or Vice President Harris is, why don’t you protest him?’ They said, ‘Because we wouldn’t have any influence with them.’ So, the reason that they say, ‘We targeting Democrats ’cause, well, we think they would be more open-minded about this, but we’re not going to do anything to the Republicans because we’re not gonna have any influence.’”

“Well, that’s just some dumbass political shit, all right? So, are you going to hurt the person that actually has the best chance of resolving this issue in a satisfactory way because you can’t influence the other person? I don’t get the logic,” the Democratic strategist added. “I don’t get the logic at all. I just don’t.”
Carville also became incensed on Wednesday while discussing former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric, saying he believes all the former president and Republicans have to offer is bigotry.
“What really gets to me, you hear this all the time, you know, ‘Trump doesn’t understand … if he just moderated … and wouldn’t say this crazy stuff,’ you don’t understand. That’s his appeal,” he said. “Without the racism and the misogyny, he has nothing! And he knows that. And he’s not going to listen to the campaign advisors that tell him to act sane or act normal or talk about pivoting to the middle, to talk about talking about the issues, because that’s not what the Republican Party is.”
