NEW ORLEANS, LA – Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LIX, earning the Pete Rozelle Trophy.
Hurts delivered a stellar performance in the Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. He completed 17 of 22 passes (77.3 percent) for 221 yards and two touchdowns, achieving a passer rating of 119.7. He also made history with his ground game, rushing for 72 yards and a touchdown – the most rushing yards ever by a quarterback in a Super Bowl.
This marks the 34th time a quarterback has been named Super Bowl MVP. Hurts joins an elite group of quarterbacks who have thrown multiple touchdown passes and rushed for a touchdown in the same Super Bowl, including Ken Anderson, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, and Patrick Mahomes.

Hurts’ Super Bowl LIX performance builds on his impressive showing in Super Bowl LVII, where he had 304 passing yards and 70 rushing yards. He is the first quarterback ever to achieve at least 200 passing yards and 50 rushing yards in multiple Super Bowls. He also joins John Elway and Joe Montana as the only quarterbacks with a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown in multiple Super Bowls.
The Pete Rozelle Trophy is awarded based on a vote by a panel of 16 media members, including broadcast analysts, media from the participating cities, Pro Football Writers of America representatives, and at-large national media members, as well as fan voting through NFL.com.
