JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A federal jury has found Anthony Tyrone Mackey guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Mackey was pulled over for a traffic violation in Jacksonville on March 29, 2023.
A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a 12-gauge shotgun and a .25 caliber pistol. DNA analysis confirmed Mackey’s DNA on the shotgun and its magazine.

Due to his prior convictions for seven felonies, including firearms offenses and aggravated assault, Mackey was prohibited from owning firearms.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys John Cannizzaro and Brenna Falzetta.
