ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher J.P. Feyereisen will read to children at the Largo Public Library on Monday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. It will be the team’s second “Reading with the Rays” event this season.
In the first such event hosted by the Rays, Pete Fairbanks read to children prior to the June 5 game against the White Sox at Tropicana Field. Ryan Yarbrough, who has been active with the program the past few years, was scheduled to read that day. However, he was also scheduled to pitch, which led to Fairbanks doing the honors.
As Fairbanks was at the time of the first reading event, Feyereisen is currently on the injured list. The righthander had not allowed an earned run in 22 appearances before landing on the IL with a shoulder injury.
