Republican vice presidential candidate Ohio Senator J.D. Vance shredded Vice President Kamala Harris for questioning his loyalty to the U.S. during an impassioned speech on Saturday.
The Ohio Senator, a Marine Corps veteran and small business owner, defended his record in response to a campaign ad released by Harris earlier this month, which claimed he would be “loyal only to Trump, not to our country.”
“Kamala Harris recently questioned my loyalty to this country. Loyalty is a significant word. Semper Fi means loyalty, and there is no greater disloyalty to this country than what Kamala Harris has done at our southern border,” Vance declared to the crowd in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

He continued, “I served in the United States Marine Corps. I went to Iraq for this country. I built a business for this country. My running mate took a bullet for this country. So my question to Kamala Harris is, what the hell have you done to question our loyalty to the United States of America?”
Vance then answered his own question, stating Harris has done “nothing.”
“Let’s send a message to the media, Kamala Harris, and every hardworking patriot across the country. We are ready to have President Donald J. Trump back, and we’re going to work our tails off to make sure it happens,” he concluded. The video Vance referenced was shared on YouTube on July 16, one day after Trump announced he had chosen the junior Ohio Senator as his running mate.

Harris, who had not announced her candidacy for President at the time, accused Vance of being a lackey who would “be a rubber stamp for [Trump’s] extreme agenda.” “Make no mistake: JD Vance will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country,” Harris warned, criticizing Vance’s strict conservative policies.
Harris, endorsed by President Biden after he abandoned his re-election campaign, has yet to choose her own running mate.
