On Sunday, May 16, 2021, Deputy Kevin Turner, with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Andrew Johnson for Fleeing and Eluding, False Name to LEO, Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
Deputy Turner observed Johnson in the Walmart parking lot on SW Highway 200 and his vehicle had an unregistered temporary license plate.
Deputy Turner advised Johnson, who had provided a false name, not to drive the vehicle. A few moments later, he observed the vehicle drive past, so he conducted a traffic stop. Deputy Turner searched for the name Johnson provided and the picture did not match his appearance.
When confronted about the discrepancy, Johnson sped away.
A vehicle pursuit was initiated and ultimately came to an end when Deputy Hannar took the lead and conducted a PIT maneuver to disable Johnson’s vehicle. Johnson attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended a short distance away when Deputy Hannar deployed his taser.
