Israeli media reported Wednesday that Israel had finalized a list of potential targets in Iran for possible strikes, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) presenting these options to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Preparations have intensified, involving coordination with regional countries, although Israel has shared only general attack plans with the United States.
Reports suggest Israel could change its target choices at the last moment, with U.S. officials speculating that Israel might act before the U.S. presidential election in November.
Meanwhile, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasir Zadeh downplayed the significance of the U.S. sending a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system to Israel, dismissing it as “psychological warfare.” He asserted that the system posed no substantial threat to Iran.
Similarly, an outlet linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps argued that THAAD would be ineffective against Iranian ballistic missiles, including those used in Iran’s recent attack.
Despite these claims, the U.S. manufacturer Lockheed Martin has highlighted the system’s proven effectiveness in intercepting ballistic missile threats, referencing its successful use in defending the UAE from Houthi missiles in 2022.
U.S. Forces Strike Iran-Backed Houthi Weapons Sites In Yemen, Targeting Advanced Missile Systems
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Wednesday that the United States carried out precision airstrikes on multiple Iran-backed Houthi weapons storage sites in Yemen, targeting advanced weaponry used to attack international vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
These strikes aimed to weaken the Houthis’ ability to threaten international shipping and U.S. forces. The operation involved U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, showcasing America’s global strike capabilities.
Early assessments show no civilian casualties, and further updates will be provided as more information is confirmed.
