Following a security cabinet meeting at the Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that Hamas “made a grave mistake” by launching rocket barrages into southern and central Israel during its surprise morning attack.
In one of the most severe escalations in recent years between Israel and the militant group that controls Gaza, Hamas gunmen infiltrated Israeli communities in multiple locations.
TRANSLATION: “Today, we have seen the face of evil. Hamas launched a criminal attack, without distinguishing between women, children, and the elderly. He will realize very quickly that he made a grave mistake. We will change the face of reality in the Gaza Strip decades from now. The citizens of Israel, especially in these difficult times, were patient and backed up the security forces,” said Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
US President Joe Biden addressed the recent Hamas attacks against Israel on Saturday and affirmed that the United States will continue to support the Middle Eastern nation.

In brief remarks from the White House, Biden stated that he will “ensure” that Israel receives the necessary assistance to defend itself against Hamas terrorists.
“I got up this morning, started this at 7:30, 8:00, my calls…Hamas terrorists crossing into Israel, killing not only Israeli soldiers, but Israeli civilians in the street, in their homes. Innocent people murdered, wounded, entire families taken hostage by Hamas just days after Israel marked the holiest of days of the Jewish calendar,” Biden said. “It’s unconscionable.”
“Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks, to seek advantage,” Biden added. “The world is watching.”
