Irony On Display In Kentucky: Anti-Gun, Anti-Violence Activist Arrested For Nearly Shooting Mayoral Candidate To Death

Here’s a textbook definition of irony.

A Louisville, Kentucky, “activist” who championed gun control and who promoted violence prevention to kids was arrested on charges that he shot at a Democratic mayoral candidate on Monday.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, police arrested 21-year-old Quintez Brown on Monday after he allegedly opened fire at the campaign headquarters of Democrat Craig Greenberg.

According to police and media accounts, Greenberg and four others were holding a staff meeting when Brown entered the office, pulled a 9mm Glock, and opened fire. No one was injured, but Greenberg narrowly missed being injured or killed. One-shot reportedly left a bullet hole in his sweater.

Brown was charged with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment after Greenberg was shot at in his campaign headquarters that morning.

Brown has pled not guilty.

His motive was unclear, but his lawyer told the Courier-Journal that Brown suffers from mental illness.

As the Courier-Journal reported, Brown was a city council candidate, having declared for a seat a couple of months ago. He also was a participant in protests in the city in 2020, and founded a group called From Fields to Arena, which is “committed to providing political education and violence prevention training to youths engaged in hip-hop and athletics.”

The conservative website The Blaze noted that in 2019 Brown wrote an op-ed for the Courier-Journal in which he criticized Republicans for opposing gun control.

His op-ed was entitled “Kentucky’s concealed carry law shows your life doesn’t matter to gun-loving Republicans.” In the piece, Brown wrote that Republicans “choose the National Rifle Association over your life,” and added, “Every time lawmakers vote against gun safety, and thus the lives of our most vulnerable, they show that their hearts can be as cold as the steel of the guns they praise.”

He noted that GOP lawmakers arguing for the right of self-defense was a red herring.

“That might be the narrative they bought from the NRA and sold to their constituents to maintain their power, but it’s not simply about gun ownership,” Brown wrote. “If it was, why would this 18-year-old, ‘inner-city’ black male even want to own and carry a concealed gun without a permit, trained or untrained?”

“That sounds like a death sentence.”

  1. We need more of this. See what you can do to encourage Democrats to assault other Democrats.
