Iraqi Forces Target ISIS Leaders In Central Iraq, Two US Personnel Wounded

In an operation early Tuesday, October 22nd, Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), with support from the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), targeted multiple ISIS locations in central Iraq. The strikes and raids aimed to eliminate several senior ISIS leaders and resulted in the death of at least seven ISIS operatives.

During the Iraqi-led operation, two U.S. military personnel assisting with site exploitation were wounded. They are currently in stable condition.

Coalition Support Key to Success

CJTF-OIR played a crucial role in the operation, providing technical support and intelligence that enabled the ISF to successfully carry out the mission. This collaborative effort is expected to significantly disrupt ISIS attack networks in Iraq.

Joint Effort Against Terrorism

The operation was a joint effort involving the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, Iraq’s National Security Service, and the Iraqi Joint Operations Command. It demonstrates the continued commitment of Iraqi and coalition forces to combatting the threat of ISIS in the region.

“U.S. Central Command, alongside our coalition and Iraqi partners, will aggressively pursue ISIS and other terrorists that pose a threat to US forces, allies, partners, and security in the region,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander.
