Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, issued a warning of potential further assaults against the United States and its interests at the recent U.N. General Assembly meeting held in New York.
Iran has orchestrated rocket and drone attacks on bases that house American personnel in Iraq and Syria.
The orchestrations are carried out through the Shiite militia groups under the control of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
U.S. forces have successfully intercepted most of these attacks, but injuries have been reported nevertheless.
“I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome expansion of the war in the region. But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire,” Amirabdollahian stated at the U.N. General Assembly.
In the early hours of Friday morning in Syria, the U.S. military launched precision airstrikes on two locations in eastern Syria, targeting Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.

These strikes were in response to a series of drone and missile attacks against U.S. bases and personnel in the region.
The Biden administration’s objective was to strike Iranian-backed groups suspected of targeting the U.S. while avoiding further escalation in the region.
Since October 17, there have been a total of 12 attacks on U.S. bases and personnel in Iraq, as well as four in Syria.
In a statement, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the “precision self-defense strikes are a response to a series of ongoing and mostly unsuccessful attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-backed militia groups that began on October 17.”
Amirabdollahian’s Stand on Israel’s Actions
Amirabdollahian focused on Israel’s bombing campaign against Hamas terrorists in Gaza, which he referred to as “genocide”. He accused Israel of “war crimes and genocide” at the United Nations, and labeled Israel as an “occupying regime”.
He also claimed that Hamas is a lawful “liberation” movement, even after their horrific surprise attack on Israeli civilians on October 7.
“We recommend the US and the West to work for peace and security, not war against people, children and women. Instead of sending rockets, tanks, and bombs to be used against Gaza, they should stop supporting genocide,” he added.
Amirabdollahian’s Take on the Palestinian Issue
Amirabdollahian argued that the grievances of the Palestinians justify every crime Palestinian terror groups commit. He demanded the U.N. enforce the demands of Hamas against Israel and claimed the only reason it hesitates to comply is interference from the United States.
Amirabdollahian then called for Israeli genocide by demanding a Palestinian state that would replace Israel “from the sea to the river”.
Amirabdollahian’s Threat to the U.S.
Amirabdollahian ended his speech by issuing another warning to the United States about the “uncontrollable consequences” of providing unlimited financial, arms, and operational supports to Israel.
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s speech at the U.N. General Assembly was a clear articulation of Iran’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict and a stark warning to the United States and its allies.
It remains to be seen how these geopolitical tensions will unfold in the coming months.
