Iowa Woman Sentenced To 10 Years for Methamphetamine Possession

A Sioux City, Iowa woman, Sara Raquel Torres, 38, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The sentencing, handed down by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier on July 29, 2024, follows Torres’s guilty plea in May.

The conviction stemmed from a March 2023 incident where Torres attempted to sell a large quantity of methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer.

She was apprehended by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, who found the drugs and a handgun in her vehicle.
