Inverness Man Killed In Early Morning Sumter County Crash

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 30-year-old man from Inverness died early Wednesday morning after a single-vehicle crash in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:51 AM on State Road 44. Troopers report the man was driving a Kia Forte westbound on SR-44. While traveling west of County Road 475, the driver failed to successfully navigate a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle subsequently departed the travel lanes, colliding first with a utility pole and then striking a barbed wire fence.

The Florida Highway Patrol noted that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
