Inverness Man Fatally Struck By Pickup And RV While Directing Traffic

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 65-year-old Inverness man died Wednesday evening after being struck by both a pickup truck and an RV while directing traffic on State Road 44. The incident occurred near the intersection of North Maynard Avenue at approximately 6:21 p.m.

According to preliminary reports, a 30-year-old man from Dunnellon was driving a Dodge pickup truck eastbound on SR-44. At the same time, the 65-year-old Inverness man was standing in the highway, assisting a 64-year-old man from Montgomery, Alabama, who was attempting to reverse an Allegro RV out of an RV park.

The driver of the pickup truck reportedly failed to see the pedestrian in the roadway and struck him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Tragically, the RV then ran over the fallen man. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
