CITRUS COUNTY, Fla – A 75-year-old Inverness man, Michael Coburn, was arrested on October 24th and again on October 28th on multiple charges related to child pornography.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) High Tech Crimes Unit, in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, conducted a thorough investigation that led to Coburn’s arrest.

The investigation began with a tip from NCMEC, which alerted Detective Patrick Martin to potential child pornography images associated with a Citrus County residence. Detective Martin confirmed that Coburn was possessing and distributing these illegal images.

A search warrant executed at Coburn’s home on October 24th resulted in the seizure of electronic devices. Forensic examination of these devices by Detective Nicholas Norton revealed additional child sexual exploitation material, leading to further charges against Coburn.

Coburn faces a total of 13 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 10 counts of Transmission of Child Pornography. He was initially held at the Citrus County Detention Facility on a $280,000 bond but has since been released.

“The CCSO High Tech Crimes Unit will continue to diligently work to put monsters like this away. The damage caused by Coburn’s possession and promotion of this offensive content impacts individuals well beyond the boundaries of Citrus County,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “Somewhere in this world, an innocent child was traumatized because predators like Coburn have created a market for their exploitation.”
