“Insanity” Boebert Slams Biden On Energy Crisis In America

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert tweeted that this will be the year we hit $10.00 for a gallon of gasoline. Her comments come after Biden announced the United States will no longer import oil and gas from Russia amid the war in Ukraine.

Biden announced the U.S. ban on Russian oil imports over the country’s invasion of Ukraine, taking aim at Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s main revenue source as Russian forces continue battering Ukrainian cities.

On Tuesday Boebert said, “This is going to be the year we hit $10/gallon gas.”

Boebert added in a second tweet, “Cutting off Russian oil is the right move. Doing so without increasing American energy production is insanity.”

Ukrainian leaders have pleaded with Washington and the West to cut off Russian energy imports in the 13 days since Russian troops began attacking Ukraine.

On Tuesday Biden said, “This (ban) means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable to U.S. ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to this war machine.”

Lawmakers from both parties have ramped up pressure on the admin to block Russian oil in recent days, preparing legislation to impose the ban if the Biden administration didn’t act.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she would support a ban on Russian oil imports, aligning herself with bipartisan lawmakers pushing for energy independence.

“I am calling on the Administration and industry partners to take action immediately, up to and including banning crude oil imports from Russia,” Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, the chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said in a statement on Monday.

Biden yanked the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline on his very first day in office, blocking a project that would have delivered crude from Alberta’s oil sands.

Biden also had his climate advisor, Gina McCarthy, commit immediately to “the most aggressive” carbon cut the U.S. can make.

That came just before Biden signed a climate-related executive order suspending new oil and gas leases on public lands, directing federal agencies to purchase electric cars by the thousands and seeking to end fossil-fuel subsidies.

Gas prices are on the rise and new price predictions show that consumers are unlikely to catch a break anytime soon.

Some experts expect that the price of crude will reach $200 per barrel, a new all-time high, sometime this year.

Goldman Sachs hiked its price forecasts for Brent oil saying the world could be facing one of “largest energy supply shocks ever” because of the Ukraine crisis, while Barclays told Reuters in its worst-case scenario oil could top $200 a barrel.

“In the short term, coping with such a supply shock would require the combined help of global strategic reserves, core-OPEC, Iran, and higher prices to reduce consumption,” Goldman told Reuters.

Oil prices per barrel rose to $124.00 on Tuesday, up $4.00 per barrel from Monday.
