Tashod Miller, 33, of Indiana, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber for distributing a significant quantity of fentanyl in southwest Florida. Miller pleaded guilty to the charge on February 4, 2025.
According to court documents released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Miller traveled from Indiana to Florida with over 11,000 fentanyl pills concealed in his checked luggage. He intended to sell the narcotics for $15,000.

The operation was disrupted when Miller met with an undercover agent from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at a local hotel. During the meeting, Miller handed over the fentanyl pills, leading to his immediate arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Miller had a history of prior drug convictions. Following his arrest, he admitted to distributing fentanyl for approximately one year.

The DEA conducted the investigation, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat the distribution of deadly opioids in the region. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin S. Winter prosecuted the case.
