Incoming Border Czar Tom Homan weighed in on the recent terror incidents in Las Vegas and New Orleans, expressing concerns about national security vulnerabilities and potential connections between the two attacks.

Speaking on FOX & Friends Thursday, Homan emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to address both external and internal threats.

Addressing the Las Vegas explosion outside the Trump International Hotel and the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Homan expressed skepticism over initial findings that the two events are unrelated.

“I think the further investigation goes, they’re going to find a connection between the two incidents,” Homan said. “Both were suicide events, and neither perpetrator had any plans of going home.”

The FBI confirmed earlier that the New Orleans attacker, Shamsud Din Jabbar, had declared allegiance to ISIS in online posts and left a will and testament. Authorities in Las Vegas are still investigating the motivation behind the Cybertruck explosion, but the local police chief has stated there is no evidence of a terrorist connection at this time.

Homan suggested that future findings could reveal a link, citing his decades of experience in national security. “This is just a gut feeling, but I think there’s too much coincidence here. Something down the road may show a connection, whether through a network or the means they used to carry out these attacks,” he added.

Homan highlighted broader concerns about the U.S. border as a significant national security vulnerability. Referring to the record number of migrant crossings and individuals evading apprehension, Homan called attention to the risks posed by inadequately vetted individuals entering the country.

“We’ve had over 2 million known ‘gotaways’ who entered this country without screening or fingerprinting,” Homan said. “CBP has already arrested over 300 individuals on the terrorist watch list, but how many of the 2.2 million others came from countries that sponsor terrorism?”

Homan referenced FBI Director Christopher Wray’s recent congressional testimony, which described the southern border as the nation’s largest security risk. “This country is in grave danger. We need to secure the border now to protect our national security,” he stated.

Homan also underscored the importance of addressing insider threats within the military and federal agencies. Both Jabbar and the Las Vegas suspect had military backgrounds, raising questions about vulnerabilities within U.S. institutions.

“The incoming administration needs to prioritize an analysis of insider threats,” Homan said. “Whether it’s the military or other federal services, we need to ensure we’re addressing any potential risks from within.”

Homan reiterated the urgency of securing the border and tackling domestic threats. He expressed confidence in the new administration’s commitment to improving security protocols and reducing vulnerabilities.

“These terror attacks are a wake-up call,” Homan said. “We must act decisively to protect our nation and its people.”

As investigations into both incidents continue, federal and local authorities are urging vigilance and public cooperation to identify potential threats and prevent further tragedies.
