Two months ago, citizens of Jamaica took to the streets to oppose imperialism.
Predictably enough, the offender was the United States. But the normally mellow Caribbean islanders weren’t upset with a new footprint by Fortune 500 corporations or the U.S. military.
Rather, it was American diplomats – the people who are supposed to make nice with the rest of the world.
Citizens of Jamaica were upset with President Joe Biden’s decision to hoist the LGBTQ Pride flag over the U.S. embassy.
As one irate citizen wrote, “Flying the rainbow flag … is like putting up a Ku Klux Klan flag and telling us that we can’t do anything about it because it is not located on Jamaican soil. The US State Department does not dishonour Islamic countries or European countries who don’t support the LGBTQ agenda.”
Well, the State Department did not learn from that experience.
In case you missed it, Wednesday was International Pronouns Day – and the U.S. State Department celebrated with a tweet that noted, “Today on International Pronouns Day, we share why many people list pronouns on their email and social media profiles.”
The tweet included a link to a government account with an overview of this “growing” phenomenon, which indicates “sharing pronouns as a way of getting to know someone” and which can help someone “accidentally assuming an incorrect gender.” The tweet also noted that the White House is so friendly to this cause that it “debuted a website contact form with gender-neutral pronouns and the nonbinary prefix ‘Mx.’”
For once, Republicans on Twitter offered an appropriate rebuke for diplomats who put their own priorities ahead of the nation’s.
“All woke theatrics & zero delivery for the American people,” Joe Kent, a GOP congressional candidate in Washington state, tweeted. “While we spend money on this globalist nonsense China signs port & mineral access deals.”
“Dear God. The politicization of my beloved State Department is a crisis,” added former U.S. intelligence director Richard Grenell, who himself is gay. “This isn’t diplomacy.”
The House Republicans on the Judiciary Committee noted, “And some people wonder how the Embassy in Afghanistan fell so quickly.”
“China successfully tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile, Afghanistan is now a terror super-state, Central American countries are sending a FLOOD of migrants to our border, and THIS is what the State Department prioritizes!?” Rep. Ronny Jackson, a Texas Republican, offered, one of many GOP lawmakers to refer to China’s newfound missile capability. “What is WRONG with these people???”
“Could we just get the American Christian missionaries being held hostage in Haiti back home?” former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
“The Biden Administration has completed the descent into self-parody,” Stephen Miller, a former senior adviser to President Donald Trump, wrote.
