A 47-year-old Illinois man, Troy Slaw, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Norma Crutchfield. Her remains have yet to be found.

Crutchfield was reported missing in November 2020 and was last seen at Slaw’s house weeks earlier. There were concerns of domestic violence as her mother had seen her with black eyes after visiting Slaw.

Slaw and an alleged accomplice, Chase Freeman, were arrested in 2022. Freeman reportedly confessed to police that Slaw showed him Crutchfield’s body in a closet and later enlisted his help to dispose of the dismembered remains.

Slaw’s guilty plea led to the dismissal of charges related to dismemberment and concealment of the body. He awaits sentencing.

The investigation continues, with Freeman facing charges for his alleged involvement in the crime.
