Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s nonprofit organization is doling out millions for states that have abortion amendments appearing on the Nov. 5 ballot, NBC News reported Tuesday.
Pritzker’s nonprofit, “Think Big America,” shelled out millions to eight states including Missouri, Florida, Maryland, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Arizona and Nevada in an attempt to bolster abortion initiatives, according to NBC News. Think Big America’s mission is to expand abortion measures outside Illinois.
“We’ve been sitting on the executive committee of most of these things since day one down the stretch,” a senior political adviser to Pritzker, Mike Ollen, told NBC News. “We’ve been talking to folks the whole time, in places like Missouri and Nebraska, where things are really tight — but we do have a real chance to codify abortion rights into state constitutions. We’re also coming in as sort of a closer to help out with whatever they need.”

Think Big America previously donated seven figures to Arizona, Florida and Nevada, but more recently gave money to Maryland, South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri, which have abortion measures on the upcoming ballot, NBC News reported. The nonprofit gave South Dakota $500,000 last week.
Pritzker’s nonprofit also donated $500,000 to Florida in April, but would not disclose to NBC News on Tuesday specifics regarding other donation amounts.
Missouri’s initiative proposes an amendment to alter the state’s constitution, allowing second and third-trimester abortions. The remaining seven states that Think Big America donated to all share similar initiatives to enshrine abortion.
