A physician in Illinois admitted guilt on Thursday to federal charges of healthcare fraud for submitting false claims to Medicaid and private insurers.
Dr. Mona Ghosh, 51, of Inverness, Illinois, owned and operated Progressive Women’s Healthcare, S.C., an obstetrics and gynecology practice in Hoffman Estates. Prosecutors allege Ghosh engaged in a four-year scheme from 2018 to 2022 to defraud Medicaid, TRICARE, and other insurance providers.
According to the indictment, Ghosh billed for procedures and services that were never performed, medically unnecessary, or conducted without patient consent.
