A 22-year-old Guatemalan man is facing charges after being caught driving at a staggering 106 mph in a 45 mph zone on SW Warfield Boulevard early this morning. The arrest comes amid an enhanced speed enforcement effort aimed at curbing a recent increase in serious crashes along the roadway.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies clocked Matias Andres Pascual driving at the excessive speed on Warfield Boulevard. Adding to the dangerous situation, Pascual allegedly turned off his headlights in an apparent attempt to evade detection in the foggy conditions.
