A 70-year-old Idaho man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly striking a counter-protester with his car during a protest at a Tesla dealership in Meridian.
The Meridian Police Department reported that the incident occurred during an anti-Tesla rally outside a dealership on Franklin Road, which drew about 30 protesters and a counter-protest of approximately 200 people.
According to law enforcement, Christopher Talbot, 70, of Meridian, allegedly “made an obscene gesture” towards a 49-year-old man who had arrived at the rally. Talbot then reportedly struck the man with his car.

Officials identified the injured man as a counter-protester. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and drove himself to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Meridian Police Department stated, “Reports indicate the victim had been driving a truck with pro-Trump flags and had just parked and exited his vehicle when Talbot struck him with his car.
The victim drove himself to a local hospital, where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police used the license plate of Talbot’s vehicle to locate and arrest him at his home.
Talbot was booked into Ada County Jail and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a felony, by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
