A Guatemalan national with a long history of criminal charges and illegal entries into the United States has been apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Providence.

Edilio Agustin-Orellana, who was wanted on multiple felony charges in Massachusetts, including assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and armed home invasion, was arrested by ICE officers on January 27th.

“Edilio Agustin-Orellana stands accused of some extremely egregious felonies and represents a significant threat to the residents of New England,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. “We simply cannot tolerate such threats to our residents. ICE Boston remains dedicated to prioritizing the safety of our public by arresting and removing illegal alien offenders from the streets of our communities.”

Agustin-Orellana has a history of illegal entries and deportations dating back to 2002. He has been deported from the U.S. on multiple occasions, only to re-enter illegally each time. His criminal record includes convictions for eluding police, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.

In 2024, Agustin-Orellana was arrested in Brockton, Massachusetts, on charges of armed home invasion and other felonies. Despite an ICE detainer, he was released by the Brockton District Court.

ICE officers were able to locate and arrest Agustin-Orellana in Providence, where he was at large. He currently remains in ICE custody pending further legal proceedings.
