POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A man is facing multiple charges and an ICE detainer after Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious incident late Monday evening in Frostproof.
According to the PCSO, deputies were dispatched to a residence on State Road 630 around 11:09 PM on April 14th. The call came from a homeowner who reported hearing someone attempting to force entry through his front door. The resident armed himself for protection and immediately contacted 911.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a male subject in the front yard of the residence. They also observed damage to the home’s front door, consistent with an attempted forced entry.
The individual was identified as 26-year-old Fernando Gonzalez of Mexico.
Deputies noted that Gonzalez appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. While Gonzalez allegedly stated he had not used methamphetamine since the previous day, a search revealed he was in possession of a small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia.

Officials also stated that Gonzalez is currently in the United States illegally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been notified and has placed an immigration hold on him pending the resolution of his local charges.
