U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a large-scale worksite enforcement operation in Louisiana on March 13, 2025, resulting in the arrest of 11 illegal aliens.
The operation in Port of Lake Charles, led by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), targeted commercial and industrial general contractors suspected of illegally hiring unauthorized employees for a construction project within the port, a designated Critical Infrastructure and Key Resource location.

The individuals arrested, who originated from Mexico, Nicaragua, and Ecuador, were identified as being amenable to removal proceedings.
The operation was executed by the Homeland Security Task Force Louisiana, with support from various federal, state, and local agencies, including ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Louisiana State Police, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Lake Charles Harbor Police.
Federal law mandates that employers verify the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires using the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9. ICE utilizes I-9 inspections to ensure compliance with these laws as part of a broader strategy to deter illegal employment.
