Estimated insured losses and claims from Hurricane Idalia continue to steadily increase. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation on Thursday released data showing estimated insured losses of $259.26 million, up from $244.6 million a week earlier.
The new data also showed that 23,423 claims had been reported, up from 22,763 a week earlier. The new total included 15,979 claims related to residential property, with other claims for such things as auto damage.
The data also showed that 9,263 claims had been closed with payments, while 6,060 had been closed without payments.
The Category 3 Idalia made landfall Aug. 30 in the Keaton Beach area of Taylor County before crossing parts of rural North Florida.
