Hurricane Helene Death Toll Climbs To 11 In Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Sadly, the death toll from Hurricane Helene continues to rise in Pinellas County. As of 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, eleven fatalities have been attributed to the storm.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has released the identities of three more victims:

  • Dominic Dewitt, 60, of Indian Rocks Beach, was found in his residence, which had been flooded during the storm surge.
  • Joseph Galinski, 67, of St. Pete Beach, was also found in his flooded home.
  • Steven Boelsche, 95, of Pinellas Park, was discovered in a backyard pool. Authorities believe he may have drowned and possibly been electrocuted.
