The financial toll of Hurricane Debby continues to rise, with estimated insured losses reaching $124.8 million as of last Friday, according to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. This figure represents a steady increase from the $121.5 million estimate a week earlier.
Debby, a Category 1 hurricane, made landfall near Steinhatchee in Taylor County on August 5th, before sweeping across rural North Florida. The storm’s journey up the Gulf of Mexico also inflicted damage on several coastal communities.

The latest data reveals a total of 20,715 claims filed, with the majority (13,413) related to residential property damage. The remaining claims encompass damage to automobiles, commercial properties, and other assets.
As of Friday, 6,491 claims had been closed with payments issued to policyholders, while 7,328 claims were closed without any payments.
