TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists planning to access the southbound I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge) from key Tampa roadways will face temporary ramp closures Monday night.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that entrance ramps from southbound SR 60 (Memorial Highway), westbound SR 60 (Kennedy Boulevard), and George Bean Parkway (Tampa International Airport) will be closed from 11 p.m. Monday, March 24, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, weather permitting.

The closures are necessary for crews to shift traffic onto the newly constructed southbound I-275 travel lanes, facilitating the transition from Tampa to St. Petersburg.

The new southbound Howard Frankland Bridge lanes are expected to open to traffic in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

To navigate the closures, motorists will be directed via electronic message boards and detour signs:

  • Southbound SR 60 (Memorial Highway): Drivers will be rerouted to the north I-275 entrance ramp, continue towards Exit 41A, turn left onto Dale Mabry Highway, and then left again to access the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.
  • Westbound SR 60 (Kennedy Boulevard): Drivers will proceed eastbound on Kennedy Boulevard, turn left onto Dale Mabry Highway, and then left again to access the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.
  • George Bean Parkway (Tampa International Airport): Drivers will use the Spruce Street ramp (stay right at the fork), continue eastbound on Spruce Street, turn right onto Westshore Boulevard, left onto Cypress Street, left onto Dale Mabry Highway, and then left again to access the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.

Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and follow the detour signs carefully.
