The US House Foreign Affairs Committee has released a comprehensive report on the Biden-Harris administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, highlighting the chaos and instability that followed.

The report, titled “Willful Blindness: An Assessment of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Chaos that Followed,” details the administration’s missteps during the exit process.

“As a result of the Biden-Harris administration’s failure to plan for all contingencies, the U.S. government conducted an emergency evacuation without the necessary personnel, supplies, and equipment. The administration’s dereliction of duty placed U.S. servicemembers and U.S. State Department personnel in mortal danger, where the Taliban – our sworn enemy – became the first line of defense,” said Republican Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, who serves as chair to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The report criticizes the administration for its failure to prepare for all potential outcomes, leading to dangerous conditions for U.S. servicemembers and State Department personnel.

“As a direct result of the failure to plan for all contingencies, 13 U.S. servicemembers and 170 Afghans were murdered in a terrorist attack at Abbey Gate on August 26, 2021, and 45 U.S. servicemembers and countless Afghans were injured. This was preventable,” said McCaul.

McCaul stated that the report was compiled with integrity, based on collected facts and evidence, and aimed at ensuring accountability for the failures of the withdrawal.

He expressed frustration over delays in releasing the report, blaming congressional Democrats for providing political cover for the administration and obstructing the investigation.

McCaul vowed to continue pursuing answers from key officials like Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who have so far refused to testify.

” I will use every tool in my belt to compel both men to answer for the catastrophic failure of epic proportions their decisions caused.,” he said, promising to continue the investigation until all questions are answered.
