Honduran National Sentenced For Transporting Illegal Aliens From Texas To Georgia Through Louisiana

United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Wilfredo Garcia-Hernandez, age 31, a Honduran national, was sentenced on October 1, 2024, after previously pleading guilty to transporting illegal aliens from Texas to Georgia through Louisiana in violation of federal law.

According to court documents, Garcia-Hernandez was stopped by a United States Border Patrol agent near Slidell, Louisiana. During the traffic stop, authorities discovered Garcia-Hernandez was driving two illegal aliens from Texas to Georgia for employment purposes.

United States District Judge Brandon S. Long sentenced Garcia-Hernandez to time already served, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

U.S. Attorney Evans commended the work of the United States Border Patrol in investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Jon M. Maestri of the General Crimes Unit handled the prosecution.
