Homosassa Woman’s Car Erupts In Flames After Crashing Into Trees: Florida Highway Patrol

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 73-year-old woman from Homosassa was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 8:41 PM on Poppy Street, east of Torenia Verbenas Court. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Chevy Impala westbound on Poppy Street when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle left the roadway and collided with several trees.

The vehicle subsequently caught fire.

Sadly, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
