CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 50-year-old Homosassa woman was killed in a collision on West Homosassa Trail this morning, while her three children sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:03 a.m. on March 12, 2025. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old Ocala man was driving a dump truck westbound on West Homosassa Trail. At the same time, a Dodge minivan, driven by the Homosassa woman, was traveling eastbound.

The dump truck driver attempted to make a left turn into 4816 West Homosassa Trail and entered the path of the oncoming minivan, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured. However, the 50-year-old woman driving the minivan suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Her three children, a 16-year-old female, a 15-year-old female, and a 12-year-old male, who were passengers in the minivan, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
