Homosassa Man Killed In US-19 Collision

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 71-year-old Homosassa man was killed in a collision on US-19 in Citrus County on Wednesday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. at a private parking lot located at 275 US-19. The FHP report indicates that a Hyundai Accent, driven by the 71-year-old man, was traveling westbound within the parking lot. At the same time, a GMC Yukon, driven by a 39-year-old Homosassa woman, was traveling northbound on US-19.

According to the FHP, the Hyundai Accent exited the parking lot and entered the path of the GMC Yukon, resulting in a collision. The driver of the Hyundai Accent suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

The driver of the GMC Yukon sustained minor injuries. A 69-year-old female passenger in the Yukon suffered serious injuries, and an 11-year-old female passenger sustained no injuries.

The FHP is investigating the crash.
