CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 46-year-old Homosassa man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly intentionally striking a woman with his vehicle during a domestic dispute.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a 9-1-1 call earlier today reporting a disturbance at a residence in Homosassa. The caller reported witnessing John Kazmier Kaminski, 46, and a female victim engaged in a physical altercation in the yard. The caller then saw Kaminski enter a vehicle, accelerate, and deliberately strike the woman.

Upon arrival, deputies and Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) found the female victim unconscious and struggling to breathe. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Detectives from the CCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) immediately launched an investigation. Kaminski was detained at the scene and transported to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for questioning.

“This is a deeply disturbing and senseless act of violence,” said Sheriff David Vincent. “We are committed to working relentlessly with the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office to ensure that Kaminski is held fully accountable for his actions. We are committed to seeking justice for the victim and ensuring that this individual faces the full weight of the law for this violent act.”

Based on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, Kaminski was arrested for attempted murder. He is currently being held at the Citrus County Jail without bond, as per the bond schedule.
