SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning on the 2200 block of Hammock Place in Sarasota.
Deputies responded to a call at approximately 2:51 a.m. regarding a disturbance at a residence on the specified block. The situation was quickly updated to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a large gathering had been taking place at the residence when an altercation broke out. Tragically, two individuals were shot during the incident. The sheriff’s office confirmed that one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and has been pronounced deceased.

Detectives and forensic units are currently on scene, meticulously processing the area for evidence as the investigation gets underway.
In a preliminary statement, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office indicated that they believe this to be an isolated incident and assured the community that there is no ongoing threat.
