ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg homeowner shot and fatally wounded a man suspected of breaking into their home early Wednesday morning, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. A second suspect involved in the incident fled the scene and remains at large.
Police reported that the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM at a residence located at 3401 40th St. N. Preliminary information indicates that two male suspects entered the home.

During the incident, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking one of the suspects. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect.
The second suspect managed to escape the residence and has not been apprehended.
The St. Petersburg Police Department stated that the investigation is active and ongoing, and it is currently in its very early stages.
