RUSKIN, Fla.– The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 12:23 a.m. on November 10th, reporting a home invasion in the 3000 block of Double D Ranch Trail in Ruskin. Upon arrival, they discovered an unidentified suspect deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the homeowner’s adult son confronted the intruder inside the residence and fatally shot them.

“Imagine the fear of being awoken in the middle of the night to a stranger invading your home,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is every homeowner’s greatest fear, a dangerous and brazen individual breaking in, showing a complete disregard for the safety and security of others. Our thoughts are with this family as they recover from the trauma of this event.”

The incident remains under active investigation.
