HOLIDAY, Fla. – A morning fire in Holiday has tragically claimed the life of a 60-year-old man and one of his dogs.

Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 3800 block of Bowen Street around 6:30 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, firefighters were informed that one person and several animals were trapped inside the burning home.

Fire crews swiftly contained the blaze, which was concentrated in a front bedroom. Sadly, they discovered the body of the 60-year-old male resident in the room. Two dogs were also found inside the home. Firefighters successfully rescued one dog, but the other tragically perished.

Another resident was present in the house at the time of the fire but managed to escape unharmed.

The Pasco County Fire Marshal investigated the scene and determined that the fire was accidental. No further details about the cause of the fire have been released.
