Starting November 1st, recreational harvesting of hogfish will be closed in both state and federal waters off Florida’s east coast and the Florida Keys. This closure affects all waters south of Cape Sable in the Gulf of Mexico, extending up the Atlantic coast to the Florida-Georgia border.

The hogfish season in these waters runs from May 1st to October 31st each year.

However, recreational hogfish harvest remains open in Gulf waters north of Cape Sable.
