Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office Arrests 15 In Human Trafficking Operation, Rescues Victim

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has arrested 15 individuals in a multi-day human trafficking operation, including one man who was actively trafficking a victim at the time of his arrest.

The operation, conducted by HCSO’s Human Trafficking Section from January 23rd to 29th, 2025, resulted in the successful rescue of a victim and the arrest of Trayvon Butler, 28. Detectives observed Butler arriving with the victim at an undercover operation location.

Upon making contact with the victim, detectives determined she was being trafficked. Selah Freedom, a non-profit organization, was contacted and assisted in providing housing for the victim.

Butler was taken into custody without incident and faces the following charges:

  • Coercion for Commercial Sex Act by Human Trafficking
  • Deriving Support From Proceeds of Prostitution
  • Transporting for Prostitution

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to fighting the heinous crime of human trafficking and protecting the vulnerable from exploitation,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Thanks to the diligent work of our Human Trafficking Section, we not only arrested individuals preying on others but also rescued a victim from this dangerous cycle.”
