HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is gearing up for the influx of adorable arrivals with a “kitten baby shower” this Saturday, April 5th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619.

As “kitten season” begins, the shelter anticipates taking in hundreds of kittens, especially those needing extra care. To prepare for this busy period and to promote fostering, the Pet Resource Center is hosting its fourth annual kitten baby shower.

This free, family-friendly event coincides with Foster Awareness Month and promises a day filled with fun, education, and ways to help the shelter. Attendees can enjoy Easter-themed enrichment tables, informational sessions, a photo station, and even the opportunity to name kittens currently at the shelter. The event will also feature a “Fill the Play Pen” supply drive.

Kitten Wish List:

  • Royal Canin wet cat food
  • Dry kitten food
  • Pee pads
  • Uncooked rice
  • Tube socks
  • Kitten toys and other kitten supplies

The shelter emphasizes the unique challenges of caring for young kittens, particularly those requiring hand-feeding. The baby shower will provide information and resources on becoming a foster parent for kittens, cats, or dogs. Foster parents play a crucial role in providing temporary, safe homes and valuable insights into the animals’ behavior, significantly improving their chances of adoption.

The Pet Resource Center also reminds residents that finding kittens alone doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve been abandoned. Often, the mother is nearby, searching for food or temporarily scared away. Residents are advised to observe from a distance before intervening.

Join the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center this Saturday to celebrate kittens and learn how you can help during “kitten season.”
